User Guide: General Overview of the Eolas Medical Platform for Standard Users (Non-Admins)

A first look at Eolas — asking questions with Ask Eolas, searching guidelines, and finding your way around the app.

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Sign Up and Find Your Space

  • Eolas is an AI-supported knowledge management platform for healthcare teams.
  • Signing up only takes your name, email address, and where you work — this last detail helps Eolas match you to your department space.

2. Choose Your Department or Trust Space

  • Once signed in, you'll see a list of suggested spaces based on your workplace, or you may already have been invited to your department's space by your team.
  • If the departments or hospitals shown don't look right, swipe down to refresh the list.
  • To change space, select All Teams or Join More Teams and search for your department or hospital by name.
  • You can choose between your department space or your trust/hospital/organisation/health board space — this is where organisation-wide and antimicrobial guidelines usually live.

3. Ask Eolas a Question

  • The main search bar in your department space lets you Ask Eolas a question in plain language.
  • If AI is enabled for your department or trust, Eolas answers using your internal guidelines and protocols, National Guidelines, and even practical queries like booking annual leave — usually within seconds.
  • You can click into the exact source page an answer came from to check it yourself.
  • All content in your space is managed by your space administrators. If there's nothing in your space to answer a question, Eolas will let you know there's no content available — a good prompt to contact your admins or the Eolas team.

4. Use Simple Search

  • If AI hasn't been enabled for your space, or you'd simply prefer not to use it, tap Simple Search and type your query as normal.
  • Select a result from the list to open and view it.

5. Use Eolas Offline

  • You can keep using the Eolas mobile app even without cell signal, wifi, or internet by turning on Offline Mode in Settings.

6. Explore Sections and Guidelines

  • Outside of the search bar, you can access Sections within your space and open your space's guidelines directly.

7. Check the Newsfeed

  • The Newsfeed is where your administrators post notifications and updates for everyone in your space.

8. Meet the Team, Complete Checklists and E-Learning

  • Meet the Team shows who's part of your department.
  • You can also complete surveys, checklists, and e-learning modules, if your admins have added them.

9. Flag Outdated or Missing Content

  • If anything in your space is out of date or missing, contact your admins using the icon just above the search bar, or email support@eolasmedical.com.

10. Access Organisation-Wide Guidelines and External Content

  • To reach organisation-wide guidelines, click out of your department space.
  • Eolas also gives you access to resources like NICE guidelines, national guidelines, patient leaflets, and calculators, depending on what your trust has enabled.

11. Manage Your Profile in the Me Tab

  • The Me tab is where you edit your profile, nominate or manage supervisors, and find files and certificates from completed e-learning modules.

12. Get Help When You Need It

  • If you ever get stuck, go to Help & Support for access to all Eolas User Guides and Frequently Asked Questions.
