Edit Eolas Editor Files and Add Hyperlinks
This guide takes you through how to edit existing Eolas editor files and add links to your other existing content on Eolas or external websites.
Step-by-Step Guide
1. Open an Editor File to Edit
- You can identify an editor file by its distinct file icon in your content list.
- To start editing, either click the three dots next to the file and select Edit Draft, or open the document itself and choose Admin Actions > Edit Draft.
2. Update File Details (Optional)
- Before entering the document, you'll be prompted to update details such as the file name, review date, stewards, and keywords.
- If you don't need to change any of these, simply click Next to move straight into the file.
3. Edit Text and Images
- Once inside the file, you can click anywhere to edit the text directly, or insert images as needed.
4. Add an Internal Hyperlink (to Other Eolas Guidance)
- Highlight the text you want to turn into a link, then click the link button.
- Select the link to document icon to search for and link to other guidance already hosted on Eolas.
- Search by title or keyword (for example, a related condition or symptom) to find the relevant guidance, then select it to apply the link.
- When a user clicks the linked text, they'll be taken straight to that guidance page within Eolas.
5. Add an External Hyperlink
- To link to content that isn't hosted on Eolas, highlight the text, click the link button, paste in the external URL, and select Link to URL.
- When a user clicks the linked text, they'll be taken to that external website.
6. Remove a Hyperlink
- To remove either an internal or external link, click on the linked text and select Remove Link.
7. Save as Draft, or Publish
- Once you've finished making changes, click Next.
- You can add a summary of changes to describe what you updated.
- If you'd like a colleague to review the changes or to continue working on it before it goes live, select Save as Draft.
- If you're ready for the changes to go live, select Publish — this will override the current live version.
8. View Version History and Draft Versions
- To see all existing drafts and published versions, open Admin Actions and select Version History.
- From here you can view any saved draft or the currently published version, and open a draft again to continue editing it.
